5 Pet Rat Games You Will Love!

Since dumbo rats are lively, social creatures, playing pet rat games with them is a good way to spend some time together. Both you and your pet rats will have a great time! Keep in mind that when playing with your rats, you may or may not incorporate toys in your games.

Here are some examples of pet rat games you could play:

Tickle game – You can do this by gently tickling your dumbo rat in various parts of his body, like his rump, and then move to other parts when he turns to you and tries to chase your hand. Make sure to do this gently so as not to hurt your pet.

Laundry toss – Make him forage through a pile of your dirty laundry and try to excite him by lightly tossing parts of the pile here and there to make him scamper to the other side.

Tug of War – You can play a little game of tug of war with your pet dumbo rat by having a ribbon or piece of string that will catch his interest. Once he's interested, he will be on to you chasing that piece of string or ribbon. Once he does, have a little tug of war with him. Remember not to tug too hard.

Catch a treat – You can play a little game when feeding your fancy rat beats by tying a string on your treat. Make it hang above your pet rat. This would urge him to jump to get it. Vary the heights of each hanging treat, making it go higher to urge your rat to jump higher.

Fishing for peas – This game is a little bit more complicated than other games and could encourage creative thinking and physical exercise in your dumbo rats. Get out a bag of frozen peas and place a number in a plastic container filed with shallow water (about half an inch). Make your rat get the peas and watch as he invents different creative ways to get to those peas.

These are just some of the pet rat games you could play. While there are just a few ideas, there are many other rat games that you could come up with. The secret is being creative enough to come up with games that suit your pet rats personality and needs. Playing games with your rats is a healthy, fun way to get rat exercise so not only will you both be having fun, but you'll be increasing the health and longevity of your rat as well.
