Managing Your Bank Roll For Successful Online Poker Play

Many beginners poker players do not realize that the most important tool they have in their online poker toolbox is their bank roll. How you manage your chips will determine your long term success, as well as your in game success from table to table. In this article, we will look at both aspects of game play, and how chip management plays a roll in helping you win more hands, and therefore, make more money playing poker.

When it comes to game play, most people play what is called a SitNGo tournament. In a SitNGo tournament, there is a minimum and maximum buy in, which determines how many chips a player can bring to the table to play. This is done so that no one comes to the table with a ridiculously low chip stack and makes the game less appealing for the players looking to make a lot of money.

Since there are 9-10 players at the table, the more chips each of them bring to the game, the more money you stand to make from playing them. The maximum buy in also prevails someone from coming in with 100X what the other players have, giving them an extremely un fair advantage.

When you play a SitNGo tournament, make sure that you ALWAYS buy in to the table with the maximum amount of chips possible. This will allow you to have leverage, and when you get a good hand, you can make more money by going all in on your bet than you would with a smaller chip stack. That is precisely why I always join the table with the maximum number of chips allowed.

For instance, say you come to a table with $ 1,000 worth of chips. If you double up against another player, that means you would probably make $ 2,000. However, lets say you come to a table with $ 5,000 worth of chips. Now, when everyone at the table has money in the pot, you can go all in and pull out even more money than you would have with the smaller chip stack!

Now, as it pertains to your over game game strategy, it is of the utmost importance that you onl play SitNGo tournaments that you can afford to buy into at the maximum buy in, at least 20X. So if your chip stack is $ 20,000, you only want to be playing tables where the maximum buy in is $ 1,000 chips. That way, if something should go wrong, you have 19 more attempts to make your money back at those tables. This is how you manage your bank roll.

Where most players would simply buy into the most expensive games they can afford to buy into, and lose all their money, you will get ahead by playing games you can afford to lose. In the long run, it will pay off, and you will likely find your chip stack growing over time! I wish you the best of luck in your next SitNGo tournament online. Manage your chips wisely!
